Module 5: Laser Target Your Customers with Audience Insights

In session 5 you will learn:

  • How to target your customers on FB using Audience Insights– it’s easy!
  • How to get people engaged with your posted ad

I don’t know too many business strategies that are a sure thing but FB is pretty close.


There are many ways to market your business and to generate leads, but only FB has the audience insight tool to allow you to laser target your marketing ONLY to the people who are most likely to become paying customers.

It’s a no brainer. Here’s how you do it:

Go to your FB Ads Manager. (If you can’t find it, type facebook.com/ads/manager/ directly into your browser.)

Under the Ads Manager, go to Audience Insights. (Again, if you can’t find it, type facebook.com/ads/audience-insights directly into your browser.)

 This is how you make sure your advertising dollars are spent only on your perfect customer. Choose a starting point: “Everyone on FB.”


Fill out what locations to target.


In 95{1f66b0d6ce0a11e4cd58ff5465420e8dd2d95871f419a96084a01d4981a25874} of my ads, I target people all over the world who have interests in the kinds of things I teach. I suggest you do the same because even if you thought you’d never have a customer outside your area, you may surprise yourself. Almost 50{1f66b0d6ce0a11e4cd58ff5465420e8dd2d95871f419a96084a01d4981a25874} of my sales come from outside the US. This is a global economy and FB puts it at your fingertips.


Select one interest that you are confident your audience would be drawn to. Then FB will populate additional suggestions.


Targeting by interest, however, is only the tip of the iceberg. In the US, you can target on income. There are many other levels too, such as homeowner status, relationship stage, parents, etc. It’s amazing the amount of detail available regarding your ideal clients!


For our purpose, we will focus on interest. In this example, I took someone who is a health and wellness expert looking to target women over 40 who wish to lose weight. They suggest a variety of topics this population may be interested in.


You can really layer down your target if you wish. Remember, as always, test and test some more until you find the effective formula.
